(RNS) Fred Phelps' death lit up the Twitterverse. Here is a selection of tweets to mark the passing of perhaps the most hated pastor in America.

The Twitterverse lit up when Fred Phelps died Thursday (March 20). No one eulogized the infamous, funeral-picketing pastor who had led the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan. And some used the opportunity to dance on his yet unknown gravesite. But more tried a little humor, or prescribed a little humanity, to mark the passing of perhaps the most despised clergyman in America.
