Call for applications

21Wilberforce announces a virtual Global FoRB Action Summit 2021 to train global emerging leaders to confront oppression and actively defend key persecuted religious prisoners of conscience and their communities. The Summit is designed for university and graduate-level students and young professionals with demonstrated commitment to leadership and human rights.

Selected applicants will take part in a 3-week online learning and expert-facilitated training course, followed by a 3-day online Action Summit. Participants will gain deeper understanding of persecuted communities, discuss advocacy efforts with international experts, learn proven tools to challenge oppression, and craft real-life advocacy campaigns for religious Prisoners of Conscience. Along with interactive training, the Summit will launch the Emerging Leaders Network, a collaborative global community of advocates working to fight oppression and advance freedom of religion or belief.

“At 21Wilberforce, we are passionate about helping emerging leaders develop strategies and campaigns to pursue real change,” said Randel Everett, President. “Today’s young activists are reaching out to legislators, organizing rallies, and masterfully using social media to raise their voices to break the chains of injustice. We help them turn activism into advocacy with impact.”

The global FoRB Action Summit features top thinkers and experts who train and engage leaders to lay the groundwork for change. Speakers and course facilitators include:

USCIRF Commissioner Nury Turkel, Knox Thames, Senior Fellow at Institute for Global Engagement, Dr. Elizabeth Prodromou, Director of the Initiative on Religion, Law and Diplomacy, Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, Katrina Lantos Swett, President of the Lantos Foundation for Human Rights and Justice, Dr. Nguyen Thang, Executive Director, BPSOS, Amjad Khan, litigation counsel at a prominent international law firm and President of Ahmadiyya Muslim Lawyers Association USA, and Prashan De Visser, founder of President of Global Unites. Additional speakers to be announced in coming weeks.

Multi-faith students and young professionals from around the world are encouraged to apply online by October 8, 2021. The pre-Summit training cohort course and Summit are free of charge for all selected participants. More information and registration can be found online: https://21wilberforce.org/el-summit/
