‘Hope Matters’ YouTube program features Bishop Megan Rohrer

Hope Matters, the weekly YouTube interview program produced by Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Santa Monica, is pleased to announce that this week’s guest is the Rev. Dr. Megan Rohrer, new Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s (ELCA’s) Sierra Pacific Synod and the first openly transgender bishop in a mainline Christian denomination. When they were ordained in 2006, Rohrer was the first openly transgender pastor in the ELCA. With their election on May 8 of this year, Rohrer became the first openly transgender bishop in a mainline Christian denomination. Their election as a bishop has received widespread media attention with appearances on Good Morning America and news articles in the New York Times and LA Times, among hundreds of others. Before their election, Rohrer served as Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in San Francisco and Community Chaplain Coordinator for the San Francisco Police Department.


Hope Matters is a weekly YouTube interview program produced by Mt. Olive Lutheran Church and hosted by Mt. Olive’s pastor, the Rev. Eric C. Shafer. Each week Shafer speaks with a person from around the USA and the world about the theme of hope.
