A 5-Workshop Series on LGBTQ+ Voices and Votes for Change

BERKELEY, Calif. Pacific School of Religion’s Center for LGBTQ and Gender Studies in Religion (CLGS) invites you to join us for “Queering the 2024 Vote,” a series of five impactful online workshops this Fall 2024. As we approach the upcoming US elections, this series seeks to empower LGBTQ individuals, allies, and communities to be voices and votes for positive change in our nation’s urgent need for justice, hope, love, and compassion. 

The workshops, open to all, will be held online and can be attended individually or as a full series. The topics cover a range of issues related to LGBTQ perspectives on voting, faith, and advocacy, featuring expert speakers and community leaders. 


Workshop Schedule and Details: 

  1. Vote with Love! with Rev. Michael Neuroth 
    Date: Thursday, September 12, 2024 | 1 PM Pacific / 4 PM Eastern 
    Description: Explore the United Church of Christ’s 2024 Our Faith Our Vote | Vote with Love! campaign with Rev. Michael Neuroth, Director of the UCC Office of Public Policy and Advocacy on Capitol Hill.
  2. Elections Are A Queer Thing with Rev. Jakob Hero-Shaw 
    Date: Wednesday, September 25, 2024 | 1 PM Pacific / 4 PM Eastern 
    Description: Join us as we examine the upcoming presidential election, discuss boundaries of political speech in faith communities, and address the spiritual care needs of LGBTQ+ congregants in this pivotal time. 
  3. Love is Louder Campaign with Rachael Ward 
    Date: Thursday, October 10, 2024 | 1 PM Pacific / 4 PM Eastern 
    Description: Learn about the United Church of Christ’s 2024 Love is Louder: Love Your Neighbor OUT LOUD campaign with Rachael Ward, Director of the UCC Office of Public Policy and Advocacy on Capitol Hill. 
  4. Sacred Response: A Reflection Moment for this Election Season with Maij Vu Mai 
    Date: Wednesday, October 30, 2024 | 11:30 AM Pacific / 2:30 PM Eastern 
    Description: Participate in a reflection space incorporating rituals, meditations, and exercises to help LGBTQ individuals and allies be present during this election season.  
  5. Living Together in Our Post-Election World with Dr. Leonard McMahon 
    Date: Thursday, December 12, 2024 | 1 PM Pacific / 4 PM Eastern 
    Description: Join PSR Professor Dr. Leonard McMahon to explore the societal and personal landscapes in the aftermath of the 2024 elections, focusing on dialogue and community healing. 

How to Attend: All workshops are held online, and participation is free with registration. Attendees can join any or all of the events that resonate with their interests.
