A Jesuit who passes muster

Pope Benedict obviously has his doubts about how closely the Society of Jesus hews to Catholic orthodoxy these days.

But one member, at least, has obviously made the grade. As RNS contributor (and Jesuit) Fr. James Martin reports, the pope has named the Rev. Luis Ladaria, SJ, as the number-two official of the church’s highest doctrinal body.
