Update: Evangelist Billy Graham released from hospital

(RNS) Evangelist Billy Graham returned home Thursday (Nov. 21) after respiratory problems led to a two-day stay in an Asheville, N.C., hospital.

“Mr. Graham was alert and in good spirits during his stay,” said Dr. William R. Hathaway, chief medical officer at Mission Hospital, in a press release. “We are pleased with the results of Mr. Graham’s evaluation.”


This was the second time Graham was admitted to the hospital for tests and observation in the span of one month. Graham turned 95 on Nov. 7.

Graham has preached to nearly 215 million people around the world since 1949, according to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’s website. He is also known for evangelizing through large stadium crusades, books, radio and television broadcasts.

Graham has “remained in generally good health” during the past year, according to the hospital’s press release.
