Former World Concern executive Kelly Miller assumes leadership role

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — Cross International, the Christian relief and development organization serving the poor in nearly 40 nations, has named Kelly Miller as its CEO.

Miller, 58, has more than 30 years of experience in leadership, marketing and communications among faith-based organizations, including more than 10 years at World Concern, the Seattle-based global humanitarian agency.

“It’s an honor, privilege and extraordinary blessing to provide leadership for the next season of Cross International’s growth,” Miller said. “Strengthening and broadening our partnerships will be one of our most important priorities. Those partners include pastors and church leaders in developing nations, as well as those individuals and organizations in the U.S. who support us financially and in prayer.”

Established in 2001, Cross International is recognized by its US-based donors for offering them opportunities to fund specific projects and to receive extensive updates with photos, diagrams and maps, architectural plans, budgets, and compelling stories about families and communities being served. Projects include building homes, providing clean water, constructing and equipping schools, delivering medical care and funding economic development.

The organization’s system of distributing aid through existing churches and ministries in developing nations is cost-effective and supports pastors engaged in evangelism.

“Donors are increasingly expecting quantifiable information on how their contributions are being used, not just an image of a child to post on their refrigerators,” Miller said. “Cross International is a leader in delivering this information, thereby creating trusting, long lasting relationships with our supporters. I’m looking forward to telling our story to the next generation of young people committed to global humanitarian causes and encouraging them to join us.”

Cross International’s retiring founder and leader, Jim Cavnar believes Miller will expand the organization’s impact.

“Kelly Miller is man of God,” Cavnar said. “He has a heart for the poor and possesses the perfect combination of skills and experience to pursue our mission – mobilizing the global Church to transform the poor and their communities materially and spiritually for the glory of Jesus Christ,” Cavnar said.

In addition to serving as a director at World Concern, Miller most recently was the CEO of the Trinity Education Foundation in Everett, Washington. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communications from the University of Washington and is a graduate of the Executive Humanitarian Leadership Program at Harvard Business School.
