‘Gun and a Hotel Bible’ slaughters sacred cows as ‘first faith film for skeptics and doubters’

Award-winning faith drama to debut on VOD platforms worldwide January 5, 2021

LOS ANGELES, California — Often criticized as heavy-handed and overly evangelistic, modern faith films typically follow a fairly-specific formula. GUN AND A HOTEL BIBLE bravely charts a new course, bringing forward more questions than answers while addressing topics others in the space avoid. The indie drama swept last year’s LA Live Film Festival taking home seven top awards including “Best Feature,” took all top awards at Content 19 Christian Film Festival, and was nominated for Best Film at the Canadian International Faith & Family Film Festival. GUN AND A HOTEL BIBLE will be available to rent and own on global digital HD internet, cable and satellite platforms on January 5, 2021.

Based on an award-winning play, GUN AND A HOTEL BIBLE tells the story of a desperate man (‘Pete’) on the verge of a violent act and his encounter with a personified hotel bible (‘Gid’). The movie creatively explores themes of betrayal, spirituality, and loss as Pete comes face-to-face with everything he once believed in. Pete and Gid are relatable and at times even humorous as they bond and battle and are ultimately forced to deal with their inadequacies. Can Gideon sway Pete before Pete pulls the trigger?

Co-directed by industry veteran Raja Gosnell (HOME ALONE, MRS. DOUBTFIRE, SCOOBY DOO, BEVERLY HILLS CHIHUAHUA) and Alicia Joy LeBlanc (THE CONVERGENCE: MISSION), these two filmmakers create the perfect tone and elicit sharply-honed performances by lead actors Bradley Gosnell (THE SMURFS) as ‘Pete’ and Daniel Floren (THE INFLUENCERS) as ‘Gideon.’ By bringing faith-themed existential questions to life, the insightful dialog and superb delivery drive this provocative piece.

GUN AND A HOTEL BIBLE was written by Bradley Gosnell & Daniel Floren, and was produced by Daniel Floren, Bradley Gosnell, Chelsea Gonnering and Celeste Provart. The film is supported by a touching score from award-winning composer Ed Smart (Oscar-nominated HANK AARON: CHASING THE DREAM) with edgy, realistic camera work from Robert Arnold (BIG LITTLE LIES).

“GUN AND A HOTEL BIBLE features one character in despair and another desperate to reach him,” said producer Celeste Provart. “In this honest and sometimes heartbreaking story, viewers are intrigued by the subject matter, drawn in by the performances, and emotionally invested in the outcome.”

Freestyle Digital Media, the digital film distribution division of Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios, acquired global rights to the faith-themed drama. Freestyle Digital Media’s Director of Acquisitions, Caleb Ward, negotiated the deal to acquire GUN AND A HOTEL BIBLE with Glen Reynolds of Circus Road Films.
