Christian ethicists issue Cabinet Statement calling for Trump’s removal

MT. ROYAL, N. J. — During the Virtual Annual Meeting of the Society of Christian Ethics today, the organization’s presidential cabinet issued a statement calling for the lawful removal of President Donald Trump from office. Members of the society, the principal organization for Christian ethicists in the United States, have been invited to sign the statement, which at this time has garnered 245 signatures. The statement is included in full below, and the full list of signatories is at https://soce.memberclicks.net/statement-on-recent-events-by-the-society-of-christian-ethics–january-8–2021.

Presidential Cabinet Statement of the Society of Christian Ethics

On January 6, 2021, President Donald Trump incited a violent mob to take control of the Capitol building precisely while the Congress was deliberating to validate the election of President-elect Joseph Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.  By seeking to subvert the results of a free and fair election, by repeatedly lying to his supporters concerning that election, and by inciting an insurrection, Donald Trump has betrayed his oath of office and is clearly no longer fit to serve as President of our country.  Therefore, the members of the Presidential Cabinet of the Society of Christian Ethics, joined by the SCE members whose names are listed below, call for the removal of President Donald Trump from office by any lawful process, including impeachment or the 25th Amendment.  By this action, our country can begin the process of affirming the importance of truth and restoring trust in our halls of justice, governance and law.
