Religion News Foundation (RNF) today announced the receipt of a $65,000 grant from the Guru Krupa Foundation (GKF) to support coverage by Religion News Service (RNS) of Hindus and Hinduism. As an independent, non-profit newsroom, RNS brings a nuanced understanding of how faith and beliefs shape individuals, communities, and the world.

The Guru Krupa Foundation’s support over the past few years has been key to RNS increasing and deepening its coverage and commentary on issues related to Hindus and Hinduism. This most recent grant will help ensure that RNS remains a trusted source of important conversations about Hindus and Hinduism.

“Our thanks to the Guru Krupa Foundation for its continued support of RNS’s coverage of Hindus and Hinduism. This grant is key to RNS continuing to produce high-quality journalism and expand its coverage of this important community. It also is key to helping RNS fulfill its mission to be the most trusted source for news, features and commentary on religion and spirituality, where people come together to understand each other’s beliefs,” said Deborah Caldwell, CEO and Publisher of RNF/S.

The GFK grant has contributed greatly to RNS fulfilling its mission of increasing religious literacy among our readers and in the broader news environment.

“With the support of the Guru Krupa Foundation, RNS has covered issues including Hindu American holiday celebrations, a new temple built in New Jersey, and how Hindu devotional practices have attracted those outside the Hindu community. This support has allowed RNS to help non-Hindu readers explore the faith, while giving Hindus a place to share their experiences alongside other faiths,” said Paul O’Donnell, RNS’s Editor-in-Chief.
