This week's Religion News Godcast: Godtalk at the GOP

RNS Editor-in-Chief Kevin Eckstrom talks with Kim Lawton of Religion & Ethics NewsWeekly about what she saw and heard at this week's Republican National Convention in Tampa.

As Republicans decamp from Tampa with a newly minted Mormon nominee, RNS Editor-in-Chief Kevin Eckstrom talks with Kim Lawton, managing editor of PBS' Religion & Ethics NewsWeekly, about Godtalk at the GOP in this week's Religion News Godcast.

RNS works closely with our broadcast partners at Religion & Ethics, and Kim is a longtime observer of religious activism and politics. As you can see from the photo, broadcast is a pain with a tropical storm bearing down.

Will evangelicals rally for a Mormon nominee? Do the die-hard partisans at the convention represent the rank-and-file? And can the GOP sway Catholics by linking arms with the hierarchy around the contraception fight and religious liberty?

The Religion News Godcast is available every Friday at iTunes. If you don't have iTunes, you can subscribe to the Godcast at Feedburner, or at Soundcloud.

You can also follow Kim Lawton on Facebook and Twitter.

No paywalls here. Thanks to you.
As an independent nonprofit, RNS believes everyone should have access to coverage of religion that is fair, thoughtful and inclusive. That's why you will never hit a paywall on our site; you can read all the stories and columns you want, free of charge (and we hope you read a lot of them!)

But, of course, producing this journalism carries a high cost, to support the reporters, editors, columnists, and the behind-the-scenes staff that keep this site up and running. That's why we ask that if you can, you consider becoming one of our donors. Any amount helps, and because we're a nonprofit, all of it goes to support our mission: To produce thoughtful, factual coverage of religion that helps you better understand the world. Thank you for reading and supporting RNS.
