The Religion News Godcast welcomes The Welcome Wagon

This week on the Godcast, we welcome the Rev. Vito Aiuto.

Aiuto is senior pastor of Resurrection Presbyterian Church in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Aiuto and his wife, Monique, also form the indie folk/gospel duo The Welcome Wagon.

Since their founding by indie artist Sufjan Stevens (who also produced their first album) the band has garnered rave reviews from hard-to-please critics at Pitchfork and Paste magazine.

The Welcome Wagon's new album, “Precious Remedies Against Satan's Devices,” was released in June by Stevens' Asthmatic Kitty lable.

Aiuto spoke to us about the connection between his pastoral and musical vocations, how the new album resembles a Presbyterian liturgy and why, on our best days, we shake with fear.

So, please come check out this week's Religion News Godcast.

No paywalls here. Thanks to you.
As an independent nonprofit, RNS believes everyone should have access to coverage of religion that is fair, thoughtful and inclusive. That's why you will never hit a paywall on our site; you can read all the stories and columns you want, free of charge (and we hope you read a lot of them!)

But, of course, producing this journalism carries a high cost, to support the reporters, editors, columnists, and the behind-the-scenes staff that keep this site up and running. That's why we ask that if you can, you consider becoming one of our donors. Any amount helps, and because we're a nonprofit, all of it goes to support our mission: To produce thoughtful, factual coverage of religion that helps you better understand the world. Thank you for reading and supporting RNS.
