(RNS5-DEC10) In an illumination from the Sarajevo Haggadah, a depiction of the first plague
shows the waters of the Nile turning into blood; below it is an image of the plague of frogs.
Believed to have been created in 14th century Spain as a wedding present for a young Jewish
couple, the 107 pages of the Haggadah contain prayers, poems and stories about the Jews’ exodus
from Egypt that traditionally guide Passover seders. See RNS-SARAJEVO-HAGGADAH,
transmitted Dec. 10.
