SAN FRANCISCO – While many American children will learn how George Washington cut down the cherry tree, they will not learn about his deep and abiding faith in God, his many heroic battles and his selfless leadership. In GEORGE WASHINGTON: HIS LEGACY OF FAITH, CHARACTER, AND COURAGE, children will delight in Washington’s story through the eyes of children’s book author and illustrator Demi.

Demi, a renowned author and illustrator with more than 300 children’s books to her name, uses vivid watercolors to create a world that appeals to both young and old audiences. Her expert use of interesting facts intertwined with imaginative illustrations is captivating.

GEORGE WASHINGTON covers George Washington’s entire life, from how his parents met to his interesting childhood in Virginia and how he developed the skills needed for farming, hunting, horse riding and self-defense. It shows how he was devoutly religious from the time of his youth.

The new book tells about Washington’s incredible military career and leadership, with many miraculous moments in battles, capped by leading the Continental Army to victory in the Revolutionary War for America’s independence.

Demi wrote GEORGE WASHINGTON for children, but adults will learn about America’s first president as well. She conceived the book after reading about Washington’s prophetic dream at Valley Forge.

Many of Demi’s most successful books have spiritual elements, which she says that “children immediately understand.” She has written books on Mother Teresa, Saint Francis, the Blessed Mother and President Abraham Lincoln, among others. Demi received a papal blessing from then-Pope John Paul II on her books on Mother Teresa and the Blessed Mother.
