Three ways Thrivent members and others can support Hurricane Matthew relief

Thrivent Financial is highlighting three ways for Thrivent members and others to help those affected by Hurricane Matthew’s devastation in Haiti and the United States.

MINNEAPOLIS – Thrivent Financial is highlighting three ways for Thrivent members and others to help those affected by Hurricane Matthew’s devastation in Haiti and the United States.

“Hurricane Matthew caused tremendous damage, especially in Haiti, and we know that our members and others want to help,” said Laura Dierke of Thrivent Financial. “Connecting people with many ways to give back is central to our mission of helping Christians be wise with money and live generously.”

Thrivent announced that it will match up to $250,000 in personal donations made on Thrivent.com to selected nonprofit organizations responding to those affected by Hurricane Matthew. This matching opportunity is open to anyone and will run until the $250,000 match is met or until Dec. 15, 2016 – whichever comes first. The following organizations have been selected to receive the match dollars:

Additionally, eligible Thrivent members can direct Choice Dollars® to relief organizations responding to the hurricane victims.

Finally, Thrivent is asking its members to consider getting involved in grassroots efforts to help raise funds for disaster relief by forming Thrivent Action Teams. Through this program, members join together in a one-time fundraiser that can be completed within 90 days. Thrivent provides promotional materials, t-shirts, and a $250 Community Impact Card that can be used as seed money to purchase project supplies and create promotional materials. For more information about Thrivent Action Teams, visit Thrivent.com.

No paywalls here. Thanks to you.
As an independent nonprofit, RNS believes everyone should have access to coverage of religion that is fair, thoughtful and inclusive. That's why you will never hit a paywall on our site; you can read all the stories and columns you want, free of charge (and we hope you read a lot of them!)

But, of course, producing this journalism carries a high cost, to support the reporters, editors, columnists, and the behind-the-scenes staff that keep this site up and running. That's why we ask that if you can, you consider becoming one of our donors. Any amount helps, and because we're a nonprofit, all of it goes to support our mission: To produce thoughtful, factual coverage of religion that helps you better understand the world. Thank you for reading and supporting RNS.
