This summer, the blog will be on hiatus for a week in June (starting now) and a week in July.

I’m grateful for the time off and for the opportunity to fulfill some long-cherished dreams of traveling. First stop: Turkey!

Here are a few photos of the places I’ll be visiting. Whether I will actually have the guts to climb in one of these hot air balloons in Cappadocia is very much a live question . . . but here’s a pretty picture anyway.

We’re also going to Ephesus to see the ruins there — apparently one of the best-preserved ancient cities in the Mediterranean world.  And of course to Istanbul, with its fabulous markets and the Hagia Sophia.
