Community of Christ releases Volume 2 of Doctrine and Covenants Analysis

Commentary on the Community of Christ Doctrine and Covenants, volume 2, by Dale E. Luffman covers sections 132-165, providing a look at the Restoration era and the modern church formerly known as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

The 500-plus page book is for sale on HeraldHouse.org for $44.95.

The author served on the Community of Christ Council of Twelve Apostles from 1994 until 2013. A serious student of scripture, Luffman did considerable theological, historical, and scriptural research and reflection for his commentary volumes 1 and 2. His drafts were reviewed by Community of Christ officials and others, but Luffman maintained an independent stance while producing the book. Dr. Luffman died March 25, 2020.

Each section has Introduction, Historical and Theological Context, Commentary and Exegesis, The Significance of This Text for Its First Readers, and The Significance of This Text for Today’s Readers categories.

Primarily designed as a reference work, Luffman’s commentary is a vital tool for those who preach or teach from the Doctrine and Covenants as well as individuals who seek understanding through individual or group study of the church’s book of inspired counsel.

This commentary also is useful for individuals that wish to enhance their scriptural literacy. The two volumes are sold separately.
