The Boston Globe’s Michael Paulson, who admits that his green thumb isn’t always what it could be, chronicles his adventures planting a Pope John Paul II rose bush in his yard. ‘Cuz you know, that’s what religion writers do — plant religious plants. From his post:

“So now we wait, which I suppose is what gardeners do. The publicity material about the Pope John Paul II Commemorative Rose promises “grand stature and classic, pristine white blossoms (that) evoke the majesty and honor the memory of one of history’s most beloved and influential leaders.” We shall see.”
