Religion & Ethics NewsWeekly - August 5, 2016

Noah’s Ark ParkLucky Severson visits Noah’s Ark Park which opened in July in Northeastern Kentucky and talks to Park CEO Ken Ham and Park critics.  Ham claims it is the most authentic recreation of Noah’s Ark in the world, 510 feet long and seven stories from ground level to the bow. Critics object to tax breaks provided by the state and the statement of faith required of employees but Ham points to the number of jobs he’s created and the revenue the Park will bring to the area.

Mother Teresa’s Legacy – On September 4th, Mother Teresa of Calcutta will become a Saint. In 1950, she created the Missionaries of Charity Sisters who care for the poorest of the poor around the world. But during her lifetime, few people knew that she suffered from a deep spiritual darkness. She wrote “The place of God in my soul is blank.” Deborah Potter speaks with Missionary of Charity Sisters in Miami, Rev. James Martin, S.J. author of “My Life With the Saints,” and Jim Towey, the President of Ave Maria University, and a personal friend of Mother Teresa.

No paywalls here. Thanks to you.
As an independent nonprofit, RNS believes everyone should have access to coverage of religion that is fair, thoughtful and inclusive. That's why you will never hit a paywall on our site; you can read all the stories and columns you want, free of charge (and we hope you read a lot of them!)

But, of course, producing this journalism carries a high cost, to support the reporters, editors, columnists, and the behind-the-scenes staff that keep this site up and running. That's why we ask that if you can, you consider becoming one of our donors. Any amount helps, and because we're a nonprofit, all of it goes to support our mission: To produce thoughtful, factual coverage of religion that helps you better understand the world. Thank you for reading and supporting RNS.
