Liguori, Mo., (August 2013). Liguori Publications, a leading Catholic publisher, is pleased to announce its fall 2013 collection of spiritually inspiring, as well as some visually exciting, titles for adults and children.

Masterpieces from the Vatican Museums will grace the pages of an exquisite hardcover book,  Meditations on Vatican Art, authored by Mark Haydu, LC, STL, the international coordinator of the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums. Available in November, this generously sized gift book pairs each thoughtfully selected art image with a reflection based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, as well as history and context notes. The book will delight both art lovers and spiritual pilgrims with the sacred treasures it presents. Learn more at VaticanArt.org.

A series of seven whimsically illustrated books that introduce the Sacraments to very young children also debuts this fall. The Sophie Wonders series, written by Debby Bradley and illustrated by Lula Guzmán, helps children ages 4 through 8 relate to and understand the sacraments through the eyes and experiences of a curious little girl named Sophie and her family.  Four of the seven books, focusing on Holy Orders, Eucharist, Reconciliation, and Anointing, will be published in October.

Evangelist Gary Zimak, author of the popular self-help book, A Worrier’s Guide to the Bible (Liguori, 2012), returns with a reflective exploration of Mary’s words and presence in Scripture. In his new book, Listen to Your Blessed Mother, Zimak’s personal stories, reflections, and discussion questions will help readers understand how Mary models discipleship for them.

This Christmas, Liguori invites parents and catechists to introduce their children to saints who exemplify generosity with Liguori’s latest 6-book set in the Saints and Me series for children ages 4 – 9. The everyday lives and virtues of Francis of Assisi: Keeper of Creation, Gianna Beretta Molla: Wife, Mother and Doctor, Lucy: A Light for Jesus, Martin de Porres: A Beggar for Justice, Mary and Joseph: Models of Faith and Love, and Nicholas of Myra: Giver of Many Gifts are engagingly introduced with lively illustrations on every page. An activities book complements the Saints of Christmas set, which will be available in October.

Popular humorist Bernadette McCarver Snyder, who has been entertaining adults and children for years with her inspiring yet comical perspectives on everyday life, will take you on a nostalgic trip down life’s highways in Goulash, Garage Sales, & God. Along the way, you’ll savor the goulash of life, find treasures in unexpected places, and, of course, delight in the warm, welcoming grace of God everywhere.

Leo Missinne unites practical experience and scientific knowledge for his book, In This Life: Spiritual Growth and Aging. Missinne, a retired professor of gerontology and chaplain in a long-term care center, shows readers that there is much to discover, beyond declines in abilities, in old age and points out that finding new aspects of your spirituality and meaning in life are vital to the autumn years. In This Life will be available in September 2013.

Liguori is also excited to announce that these new titles will be joined by several others for individuals and parishes, as well as new resources from Liguori’s Spanish-language imprint, Libros Liguori. Learn more about Liguori’s titles at Liguori.org, or by calling 800-325-9521.
