Jubilee… debt relief, etc. will only happen if it produces a net profit for those who own and operate the mechanisms of finance and governance at the international and national levels. Multinational corporate financial institutions only act and will only act in the interests of stockholders and governments capable of exercising sufficient influence either positive or punitive that affect business across and within nation state lines. To put it bluntly, the rich and powerful did not get to be rich and powerful by working hard. They got rich and powerful by letting other people work hard … and using the system to take other people’s money for themselves. The right and powerful own and operate the mechanisms of finance and government in their own particular interests. They do nothing that is not in their own interests. They will do nothing that is not in their own interests.
