WASHINGTON, DC – Evangelical leader Rev. James F. Linzey, minister with the Southern Baptist Convention and long-time supporter of Jewish causes and organizations such as the Anti-Defamation League, emerged from weeks of prayer and observations, deciding to throw his support to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. “Trump’s bold approach to address concerns millions of Americans have been burdened with over many administrations speaks to the condition of our great Republic in need of concise leadership,” said Linzey, a US Army veteran of nearly 24 years.

Linzey believes that others have their perspectives, and so long as they view Mr. Trump as he is, not as they think he is, their perspectives are just as valid. He believes that understanding and knowledge serve as the basis of maturity and discernment in making right choices. For Linzey it’s not about Donald Trump. “From a military perspective, the chief priority of the US Armed Forces is to secure US borders, shores, and air space. Falling short of this objective means we no longer have a sovereign nation.”

“If this was the only thing Donald Trump solved as president, he will have fulfilled his primary role as commander-in-chief,” Linzey said. The problem with today’s Republican Party is that it is not interested in national security. If it were, we would not be discussing illegal immigration today and Donald Trump would not be running for president. We would not need him. Republican leaders have been talking about immigration control for 30 years, but have no desire to get the job done because they are heavily influenced by special interest groups who give them money to finance their campaigns and promote legislation favorable to those special interests. Sadly, the White House is up for sale and the mortgage holder calls the shots, not the occupant. Unequivocally Trump’s ability to make positive strategy happen would be reflected in his policies and position this country to recover what it has lost, namely our fortitude to make tough decisions for the good of the collective as we honor God.

As a candidate, he is bought by no special interest group.

Yes, bringing more jobs and manufacturing back to America would be an added blessing. However, we need border control to preserve the jobs for the posterity of the Founding Fathers who shed their blood to secure the nation in the first place. The Constitution was written for law-abiding citizens, not for felons. The mere presence of illegal undocumented individuals makes them felons.

Linzey stated in his book, Illegal Immigration and the Destruction of America,

First, let’s be sure we understand the law. Under Title 8, Section 1325 of the U.S. Code, “Improper Entry by Alien,” means any citizen of any country other than the United States who enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact, has committed a federal crime. Violations of this law are punishable by criminal fines and imprisonment up to six months. Immigration and Nationality Act Section 237 (a) (1) (B) says “any alien who is present in the United States in violation of this Act or any other law of the United States is deportable.”

Linzey said in my interview with him, “Lawless ones have the spirit of the Anti-Christ.” But there is also the compassionate side of Linzey’s perspective. He personally went to the border in 2005 to help feed the illegal men and women and to provide field worship services for them. On a speaking tour in America in 2005, he admonished Christians and Roman Catholics to leave illegal immigrants alone when they are in church. Let them worship with you, he said. Provide food, shelter and clothing, but allow the law to take care of the rest. “Sanctuary cities are unscriptural, but the sanctuary of God is Scriptural as a true spiritual and physical haven of rest for anyone to find refuge in God.

There are, however, ramifications about allowing the wrong element in the land, such as those who serve false gods, those who bring division by not learning English, and those who have no skills to offer our society. Yes, it is chiefly language that unifies or divides a nation. This is not subject to debate for Linzey. Again, it is a matter of maturity and discernment, knowledge and understanding, to see things as they really are.

“Donald Trump is the only one who is convincing me that he has the fortitude to finally do what is right and create a pathway of sustainability for future generations,” said Linzey.

Linzey no longer supports the Republican Party because it has turned its back on the Republican Platform: 1.) support for legal immigration only, 2.) respect for the human rights of the unborn, 3.) gun rights, 4.) freedom of religion, 5.) freedom of speech, 6.) free market, and 7.) a denunciation of socialistic and communistic principles upon which so many other candidates’ proposals are based. He said, “So long as the Republican Party will treat Donald Trump fairly, I will vote Republican. Likewise, as a non-partisan, if the Democratic Party upheld these same Christian principles, I would certainly vote Democrat.”

Linzey explicitly makes distinction between the passivity exhibited by many Christians as the reason for massive ineffectiveness in our culture, saying, “We have to be decision makers and clearly define our way of life according to Scripture and eradicate the gray areas many are too willing to hide behind.

“When it comes to protecting one’s home, one’s children and family, one’s job and livelihood, in other words, national security, there are no gray areas. There is no room for mistakes. Once the nation is lost, it’s gone,” said Linzey.

Friends, our country is in trouble. We need to get a vision or we will perish as a nation. In the 2016 presidential campaign, let’s not be distracted by personality clashes or by accusations of the heart. “My recommendation is to start seeing things more clearly, in a black and white manner, if we are going to save this nation,” said Linzey.

Let’s make America great again!
