Franklin Graham sets us straight

(RNS) Nobody gives a rip about Donald J. Trump's taxes, he assures us. And how does he know that?

(RNS) Some of you have gotten wind of the New York Times’ speculation that Donald Trump paid no income taxes because he reported a $900 million-plus loss on his 1995 tax returns. And you’re concerned that this could sway enough undecided voters to make Antichrist Hillary Clinton our next president.

Not to worry. Franklin Graham is on the case.

“The media keep talking about it,” the president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association told his Facebook legion yesterday, “but to be honest with you, nobody gives a rip about Donald J. Trump’s taxes.”

So what do they give a rip about? “Their own taxes.

And, notes Graham, $8.4 million of the latter are about to be spent by the federal government “for things like gender reassignment and hormone therapy for military personnel.”

Praise the Lord that none of Donald J. Trump’s money is going for that.

If only we hadn’t paid any taxes either. As it is, Franklin Graham is “disgusted.” As so should we all be that “this is the kind of immoral garbage President Obama and his administration are allowing to be put in place in our country … It just shows you how morally warped our politicians have become.”

“But Mark,” you’re asking, “how does Franklin know that nobody gives a rip about about Donald J. Trump’s taxes?”

Believe me, he knows. Because even though the media talked about it, he knows that nobody gives a rip that the head of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association pulls down seven figures a year.

Nor will they give a rip about today’s Real Clear Politics report that, back in 2012, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association received a $100,000 donation from the Trump Foundation. Because that only shows that Donald J. Trump is a genius when it comes to buying support from religious leaders.

“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, says Jesus in Matthew 19, “than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.”

How morally warped is that?
