‘Spiritual Pilgrimages’ spike in the wake of Coronavirus Pandemic

Catholics seeking peace in troubled times are taking “spiritual journeys” to the Holy Land with Ascension’s new Bible Study Filmed in Israel

When Ascension released its new Bible study Jesus: The Way, the Truth, and the Life in February 2020, creators Dr. Marcellino D’Ambrosio, Jeff Cavins, and Dr. Edward Sri had no way of knowing that within a few short weeks Americans would be cut off from the Holy Land by the coronavirus pandemic. With most international flights grounded, many Catholics have been turning to domestic options to deepen their faith, and the Jesus Bible study is one resource receiving enthusiastic reviews.

“With millions of Catholics still cut off from the sacraments and nearly everyone facing serious challenges of some sort, there couldn’t be a better time to draw close to Our Lord,” says author and presenter Dr. Marcellino D’Ambrosio (“Dr. Italy”). “We are humbled to see so many people taking advantage of this opportunity to ‘walk’ in the footsteps of Christ.”

The “Jesus” Bible study quickly shot to the top of Ascension’s sale charts, and has become their best-selling study of 2020, despite a February launch date just at the beginning of the pandemic closures.

“We are hearing from people who are using the Jesus study during their personal prayer time, as a study among family and friends, and even in religion classes and houses of formation,” adds presenter Jeff Cavins. “In all cases, we are hearing incredible stories of conversion and hope coming from a renewed sense of Our Lord’s presence in the midst of these difficult times.”

The impressive itinerary for this incredible spiritual pilgrimage includes 30+ holy sites, including the most-renowned locations from the life of Jesus Christ (Nazareth, Bethlehem, Jerusalem) as well as some fascinating additions (Jericho, Magdala, Church of the Primacy of St. Peter in Tabgha). Participants will come away with a rich exposure to the land that God Himself called “home.”

Endorsements are rolling In from Catholic leaders, including Mother Dolores Hart, who famously left a star-studded Hollywood career in the 1960s to become a Benedictine nun. Mother Dolores comments, “The book for Jesus: The Way, the Truth, and the Life is really the very best I have ever read on the search for the Lord Jesus. I recommend [this] book and videos to everyone I can.”
