The national broadcasting and counseling organization New Life Ministries has named Dave Thornton as President, succeeding Larry Sonnenburg, who has served in that position for 20 years. Mr. Sonnenburg will move to the new role of Vice-Chairman. 

Mr. Thornton has been serving as Chief Operations Officer. The moves were effective June 1.

New Life Founder and Chairman Steve Arterburn said: “Larry has provided two decades of outstanding leadership as we’ve provided help to millions through our broadcast, resources, intensive workshops, and counseling registrations. I’m grateful to God for his wise and faithful financial stewardship of our ministry.”

Mr. Arterburn added: “Dave has brought fresh perspective to our ministry based on his 25-year career in publishing. I’m looking forward to seeing God use some of the new initiatives he has helped us launch — like Lumina, the first major new experience for women we’ve introduced since Women of Faith back in 1996.”

New Life also announced the hiring of its first Chief Development Officer, Wayne Olson, a 20+ year veteran of fundraising leadership and author of five books on the topic.

“In my wildest dreams,” Arterburn said, “I didn’t believe New Life would be blessed by a true expert and respected author in the field of non-profit fundraising. Wayne brings a warmth and wit to his work that will be welcomed by all….and especially our wonderful donors.”
